Reflecting on 2024: Empowering Women and Building Community

Here at Sister League of San Diego, our mission is to provide supportive housing and hope to women overcoming challenges such as mental illness, addiction, and domestic violence. This past year was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together to create change!

From celebrating resilience at our annual Rise Up! Gala to finding mindfulness at the 108 Sun Salutations Event, 2024 was full of moments that demonstrated the strength of group support. We’re so proud of how far we’ve come and grateful for the incredible individuals and organizations who’ve made it all possible.

Here’s a look back at a few of this year’s highlights!

We were so honored to be featured in Modern Luxury San Diego magazine for our 2024 Rise Up! Gala. The gala celebrated not only the mission of Sister League but also the resilience and strength of the women we serve. Guests got to hear from former resident Rebecca about her journey navigating housing insecurity, pregnancy loss, and healing during her time at Sister League.

A special thank you to Fox Law and Brian Cane of Cane Cares for their support in making the Gala a huge success!

This September, we partnered with Canes Cares for an unforgettable golf tournament at the Steele Canyon Golf Club. Bringing together passionate individuals and community leaders, this event on September 20th raised significant funds to support the women of Sister League! Thank you to everyone who participated!

We stretched, flowed, and breathed together at the 108 Sun Salutations event led by Sister League board member and Yogini, Kla-Bada. Held on June 20th at St. Andrews by the Sea in Pacific Beach, this evening of mindfulness and movement raised awareness and funds for our mission.

One of the most empowering moments of the year was the Women’s Empowerment Event hosted by the amazing Susanna Faruque (@poppy_sf). This gathering brought together incredible women from various career fields to panel and share their stories, inspire each other, and break down societal barriers. Attendees got to network and celebrate the endless possibilities of what can happen when women support women.

In February, BRACCO transformed our 4th Ave. residence with a fresh coat of paint and their thoughtful Seeds and Reads initiative. Along with creating beautiful potted plants, they gifted each resident a favorite book, complete with personalized notes. Their kindness brought new life and joy to our community.

2024 was a year of growth, empowerment, and community. We are forever proud of the strides we’ve made, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of each and every one of you.
